Revitalising Spirit Through Movement: A Joyful Day of Inner Connection
On Saturday 12th April, the White Eagle Lodge welcomed around twenty participants to a nourishing retreat day titled Revitalising Spirit Through Movement. Held within the peaceful surrounds of the Temple and its grounds, the day was a celebration of gentle movement, meditation, and connection with both spirit and nature.
From the outset, the retreat was flush with a creative and joyful energy. Participants were invited to explore their relationship with movement, breath, and the natural world—guided by the wisdom of White Eagle and the loving support of facilitators Rosie, Hannah and White Eagle Lodge mother, Jenny.
A Morning of Joyful Movement and Attunement
The morning session focused on body awareness and grounding, with exercises that drew attention to breath—particularly the out-breath, as taught by White Eagle. Participants balanced through the feet, aligned body and spirit, and even engaged in playful shimmying and continuous movement. These practices echoed White Eagle’s reference to the joyful nature of dance and its power to uplift the spirit.
A revised version of the noon healing attunement was beautifully led by Jenny, offering a serene pause and deep connection at the heart of the day.
Dancing with Nature and the Elements
In the afternoon, the group gathered in the Temple to begin a session working with the elements and elementals. Inspired by White Eagle’s guidance to connect with the natural world in our daily lives, the group moved outdoors to dance with the trees and the land, embodying the qualities of earth, air, fire, and water.
Movement inspired by bird energy—symbolising stillness, flight, and breath—was woven throughout the sessions, encouraging participants to experience the lightness and freedom of the spirit.
Returning to the Temple, the group explored sacred geometry through mindful movement and visualisation. This meditative journey deepened an awareness of the material and non-material realms.
The day concluded with a body scan and gentle release, guiding everyone back to a place of stillness and inner clarity.
A Joyful and Inclusive Experience
Throughout the retreat, attendees engaged in their own unique way—some through dynamic movement, others in still contemplation or gentle seated practices. The freedom to explore at one’s own pace and comfort level was a key feature of the day, and the feedback reflected this. Participants described the experience as uplifting, powerful, and affirming.
It was heartening to witness the age range of attendees and the inclusive spirit of the gathering. While this particular event was for participants 12 yrs and above, the hope is to welcome all ages and abilities to future retreats, fostering a space where everyone can participate in their own way—be it through visualisation, seated movement, or silent reflection.
The retreat was a beautiful reminder of how spirit can be revitalised through connection, joy, and presence. We look forward to offering more days like this and continuing to explore movement as a sacred pathway to inner peace.
