Astrology works even after death

The United Nations has declared 2025 the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology to mark the centenary of the advent of quantum mechanics.  This ushered in a completely new form of mechanics – the branch of physics that describes the relationship between forces and the motion of physical objects.  It forced classical physicists to fundamentally reinterpret concepts such as energy and momentum and, disconcertingly to many, natural phenomena were found to be unknowable.  This ground-breaking departure paved the way for the 20th century advances in science and technology and, of course, today’s computer age.

Another huge leap forward in all things Aquarian occurred at the time of the new moon on 5th February 1962.  In Nicholas Campion’s The Book of World Horoscopes, a chart is given for 00.10 in Jerusalem as an epochal moment for the Age of Aquarius.  No less than seven planets were in Aquarius: Mars, Saturn, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter.  On 13th January this year PM Kier Starmer announced his intention to make Britain a leader in the field of Artificial Intelligence which seems to me a good idea and rather fitting as transiting Pluto at the start of Aquarius is setting light to Mars and the above planets.  This massive Aquarius stellium of 1962 falls in the 11th house of Britain’s 1066 map.

The early 20th century was a time of momentous shifts which helped to nudge out old Piscean structures and patterns of thinking, no doubt assisted by the Great War.  The White Eagle body of teachings themselves started to be channelled in the 1920s, and in the field of psychology CG Jung was working to prepare similar ground.

Jung was born in 1875 to a Swiss family.  His mother was a practising Spiritualist and his father a pastor of the Reformed Church.  He began a deep exploration into astrology in 1911 which lasted his entire lifetime.  His horoscope reveals that he was immersed as much in astrologer as pyschology, albeit not in the traditional sense of casting horoscopes and doing predictive work.  Uranus and Aquarius heavily influence his birth chart with his Aquarius ascendant in opposition to his Leo Sun which (widely) conjuncts Uranus.  His interest in astrology was sparked in 1911 as transiting Uranus applied to conjunct his ascendant in the months following a progressed new moon (7 Virgo). This soon led to his lifelong split with his friend Sigmund Freud who would having nothing to do with astrology, which he called “that wretched subject” and strongly advised Jung to do the same! (1)  The publication of Jung’s seminal work Transformations and Symbols of the Libido sealed the end of their friendship.  Between 1913 and 1918 he was researching another seminal work Psychological Types, published in 1921 which defined the four functions of consciousness as thinking, feeling, sensation and intuition which astrologers now widely equate with air, water, earth and fire respectively.  This work was the product of the intense visions he was experiencing and recorded in his private notebooks between the years when Uranus transited his natal ascendant and opposed his Sun and Uranus.  During this time, transiting Neptune was applying to his descendant and reached conjunction with Sun and Uranus.  Along with others including Alice Bailey and Alan Leo in the theosophical movement, Jung was steeped in the energies of Aquarius and did much to make the idea of the New Age popular.  His death on 6th

June 1961 came at the time of his Uranus return.  As he was dying he remarked to his daughter that “the darned stuff even works after death”.  It’s interesting to see how his horoscope compares with the ‘Aquarian Age’ chart defined as 5th February 1962 which has Mars and Saturn of the Aquarius stellium on his natal ascendant.  And as the Sun ingresses Aquarius in 2025 it’s equally interesting to ponder on the significance of the fact that Pluto is now transiting his natal ascendant and soon to oppose his Sun.
